Welcome back to Budget Nomad!
Today, I’m sharing something a bit different but highly practical — a full breakdown of my Everyday Carry (EDC) setup when I travel. Whether I’m walking through the busy streets of Mumbai or catching a long-haul bus in Vietnam, these are the essentials I carry on my person every single day.
What makes my EDC unique? Most of it follows a sleek stealth black theme — practical, minimalist, and low-profile — perfect for digital nomads, solo travelers, and anyone trying to stay organized and safe on the road.
? 1. Travel Wallet – Leather, Functional, and Durable
I’ve been using a LE MT leather travel wallet I picked up in Vietnam over a year ago. Despite its age, it's held up incredibly well — a testament to its craftsmanship. It cost me around $15 locally, but online it retails for anywhere between $35 to $60 depending on the store.
Why it’s in my EDC:
Holds passport, cash, cards, and even a mini pen
Slim enough to fit comfortably in my pocket
Built-in compartments make border crossings and airport security checks smooth
Keeps everything in one secure place
If you like travel gear that feels premium but is affordable, this one’s a no-brainer.
📝 2. Notepad & Pen – Capture Inspiration on the Go
I always carry a leather notepad I picked up in India for just $3 (₹200), along with my stealth black Parker pen. As a content creator and travel planner, ideas hit me randomly — this setup helps me capture them instantly.
Key Features:
Parker pen in matte black with blue ink
Minimalist notepad with refillable pages
Ideal for jotting down directions, content ideas, or expenses
You never know when inspiration strikes. This combo keeps me ready.
🎧 3. Urban Audio Wireless Earbuds – Budget-Friendly Sound
Forget AirPods. I use Urban Audio wireless earbuds — an Indian brand based in Mumbai. They cost only $18 USD, and they punch way above their price point.
What I love:
Great bass and audio clarity
Magnetic charging case with digital battery display
Auto-pairing, lightweight, and ergonomic
⚠️ One downside: They charge via micro-USB, which feels outdated. But considering the 4–5 hour battery life, I rarely have to worry.
🕶️ 4. Polarised Sunglasses from Decathlon – Budget Eye Protection
Sun protection is essential when you're always outdoors. My Decathlon polarized sunglasses cost only ₹500 (about $8), and I’ve found them to be stylish, effective, and durable.
Why Decathlon?
Easy to find globally
Affordable with genuine UV protection
More reliable than knockoff Ray-Bans
They might not last forever, but for a budget pair, they’re solid performers.
💵 5. Magnet Money Holder – Smart & Discreet
Carrying a full wallet isn’t always smart when you’re out exploring. That’s why I also carry a small magnetic money clip, picked up in Saigon for around $3.
Why it’s useful:
Keeps $10–$20 in local currency handy
Less likely to attract attention
Lightweight and discreet
This is one of the smartest little upgrades I’ve made to my EDC.
⌚ 6. Stealth Black Digital Watch – Rugged & Reliable
My Decathlon stealth black digital watch cost me just $18, and I love it. It has basic functions — time, alarm, stopwatch, backlight — and it’s waterproof too.
Why it’s better than using a phone:
You don’t want to flash your phone in high-risk areas
Great for timing buses or workouts
Lightweight and durable
It’s not a smartwatch, but that’s kind of the point. Simple, cheap, effective.
🧣 7. Travel Buff – The Most Versatile Travel Accessory
If I had to recommend just one item from this list, it would be the travel buff. You can get these almost anywhere for $2–$5, and they have dozens of uses:
Neck warmer
Pollution mask
Sleep mask
Sun guard
Hairband or skullcap
It’s light, easy to wash, and fits in any pocket. Total lifesaver.
📱 8. Smartphone – The Digital Nomad’s Office
Of course, I carry my black smartphone — the ultimate tool for digital nomads. I use it for:
Filming videos
Editing content
Booking tickets
Google Maps, Notes, and more
📷 9. GoPro (Hero White) – Budget Vlogging Companion
I shoot all my YouTube travel videos on a GoPro Hero White. While I wish I could’ve afforded the Hero 7 Black, the White version has been great for a beginner.
Pros:
Shoots 1080p at 60fps
Great image stabilization
Wide angle makes framing shots easy
Lightweight and travel-friendly
I use a $6 fake extension stick from Thailand that doubles as a tripod, grip, and selfie stick. Highly recommended!
Final Thoughts: Build Your Own EDC Travel Kit
This stealth black everyday carry setup is simple, lightweight, and incredibly functional. It’s perfect for:
Digital nomads
Backpackers
Minimalist travelers
Anyone who prefers practical travel gear over flashy brands
These are the items I carry on my person every day — not in my luggage or hostel locker. They’re carefully chosen for convenience, security, and versatility.
